A huge office hub is to be developed in Manchester to house some 5000 civil servants in a location very close to Piccadilly Station. Proposals are being considered and public consultation will be possible by early next year, it is expected.
The new developments will include high tech offices around a public park. These offices will house employees from the Greater Manchester are. With this project here, employment opportunities are expected to grow immensely boosting the economy of Manchester in the long run. The presence of an office complex, with greater availability of choice of desk space to rent here, is also expected to improve the prospects for the real estate markets here immensely brining the Manchester area to limelight as a prime business area.
These developments come as the government announces its intention to move some 24000 civil servants from London to outside areas in the long run. Since May this year, proposals have been in the making as soon ass the government stated its interest in viewing Manchester as a suitable business location for the huge project. This project will be a hugely attractive location in such case.
Several major changes are expected to be made in the Manchester area for these developments to take shape. The Mayfield Railway station is proposed to be reopened and the inner ring road will be extended to facilitate these schemes. According to Phil Woolas, Regional Minister, these plans are very significant for Manchester as the growth of the area will hugely depend on them. Once the scheme is completed and offices begin to function, more civil servants could be moved here to take advantage of the newly established infrastructural facilities
