Canadian Celebrities Donate Designer Sunglasses for Charity Auction
Several Canadian celebrities have reportedly donated their designer sunglasses for a good cause.
Reports surfaced that singer Sarah McLachlan, singer-songwriter David Foster, pop star Justin Bieber and other celebrities have imparted some of their designer sunglasses. These items in turn will be auctioned off and the proceeds will proceed to charity.
The items will be featured at the annual Shades of Fun auction on online site eBay which is organized by Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). This development was revealed by CNIB via a news release.
The auction is open for everyone and they can access the site via this address (www.cnib.ca/auctions) this coming Friday, May 13. The auction of designer sunglasses is part of the annual event wherein Canadians are encouraged to wear sunglasses to protect their eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays and at the same time raise money to support the organization’s initiatives to assist people with vision problems.
Foster was among the first celebrities who provided support in the undertaking. In an interview, the multiple Grammy-winning artist said that the well being of his compatriots is always an important issue and this has prompted him to offer support to the foundation.
Aside from the aforementioned celebrities, entertainers, television personalities and athletes have already extended their support to this undertaking. TV personalities Jeff Hutcheson, Erin Karpluk, athlete Christine Besbitt, artists Carole Pope and Jann Arden have already provided items for auction.
CNIB Vice President of Fund Development Steve Lutz said that they’re “thrilled and humbled by the generosity of these celebrities.” He added that the participation of these influential people can certainly go a long way in terms of raising awareness about the importance of vision health. He’s optimistic that the support will continue in the succeeding years.
