It can be challenging to shake the idea that Christmas ornaments always call for classic red and green. That is just not the case, especially when it is for a modern soiree. Put a twist on the color combo and use hot pink and lime green alternatively. Used on traditionalistic decorations, these colors put some pop in party interior decoration. How about dozens of trees in shades of pink and lime? Pick Out different sizes and shapes in unconventional materials like tinsel, glitter and even candy. Then sprinkle them throughout the party venue grouping some together for impact. Ornament Hang Up Let the ceiling be the decorative focal point of the party. Using angling line cut in various distances, hang effortless ball ornamentations around the room. You could also arrange bunches from light fixtures for a cool chandelier effect. Use brightly colored ornaments or buy clear glass ones and make your own.

Poker Warfare – the Power of the All-In Bet

November 1st, 2010

No Limit Everest Poker players have the option to shove all their chips into the pot, basically daring any other player to call. The gesture implies that the all-in bettor has a huge hand, and this show of force is intended to get other players to simply lay down their hands rather than risk defeat.

The all-in bet illustrates the ancient wisdom detailed in The Art of War, a Chinese treatise on combat written in the 6th century BC. “To fight and conquer in all is your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.”

By shoving all your chips into the pot, you put other players on a tough decision. This bet declares that your are strong enough to go up against any other hand. It is totally intimidating to those with shorter stacks who do not want to risk ending their tournament play. The all-in is also frustrating to bigger stacks because it robs those players of the opportunity to out-play an opponent after the flop. There is only one decision to make against an all-in bet — either call or fold.

Daniel Negreneau, considered one of the world’s best poker players, says in his book, “Poker Wisdom for All Players” that the all-in bet gives him “fits” because it robs him of the opportunity for any more strategic betting.

Making the all-in bet should be done selectively with clear intention to make the other Everest Poker players fold. It is the rare supreme way to win battles without fighting at all.

Coin Flip Choice

October 4th, 2010

Coin Flip Choice Every poker player sometimes has to face the “coin flip” situation – calling a bet when you have two good cards, most commonly A-K, and go up against a smaller pair, such as pocket 10s. Any time you call with A-K, you’re probably doing a coin flip that has about a 50/50 chance of wining or losing. Learn to recognize the coin flip situation so you know what you are getting into before you proceed with a bet or call. Keep in mind the coin flip is much less threatening in a cash game than in a tournament at Everest. If you to have push in all your chips in a cash game, you can always buy more. In a tournament, the coin flip can end your game and bust you out. The key to coin flips is the most basic principle of solid poker: Know your opponent. Is this player a loose player and frequent bluffer who could be holding anything, including 7-2. Or is this a tight player who only plays strong cards and made pairs. Also consider whether there are other poker players behind you who might still enter the action. The 50/50 coin flip situation is a heads-up scenario. If there are others players who may stay in contention for the pot, then your hand’s potential to win shrinks.

Master of Disguise

May 27th, 2010

When you play enough poker tournaments, it’s easy to get into auto pilot mode and start taking the same lines when put in the same situation time after time. One of these times is when we’re dealt AK. The third, and debatably the second best starting hand on online poker hold em, AK is a hand that usually merits a 3bet from an opening raiser. Form that point, the raiser will either call, fold, or 4bet you. Depending on the opponent you’ll decide whether or not to shove (If he’s a rock, you’re probably better off folding). If he’s a maniac, you can probably be safe gambling with him on a 55/45 coinflip as the slight underdog against a smaller pair, or as a favorite against a lesser unpaired hand.

But sometimes we get too carried away and our three-bet gives away our hand. Then when the Ace or King hits on the flop, we c-bet and then it’s insta-fold from our opponent and we don’t maximize the value. Don’t get me wrong, this standard line is a good line to take most of the time, but sometimes you have to disguise your hand to maximize your profit.

That’s why I recommend sometimes cold calling with AK, especially when you’re out of position. While it’s not a good hand to play in a multiway pot, if the conditions are right, you may find yourself in a heads-up pot with this hand and your opponent will have no way of putting you on it (since he’s expecting a 3 bet from you).

I don’t advocate making this play with AK every time you have it. I actually suggest that the majority of the time you isolate the initial raiser with a 3 bet. But sometimes by taking this different line you can get a worse hand to call, especially a worse ace like AQ , AJ or AT or a smaller two pair hand. Just be weary of the straight, read the board, and suck as much money as you can out with your masked hand. Look out for this when you play your next poker online tournament.

Importance of Graduation Uniform in a Student’s Life

May 26th, 2010

It is always a great experience for any student to graduate from college or university. The graduation ceremony is a highly commemorative event which also becomes the last day that a student would be spending in that institution. It is the event for which every student looks forward to; the day in which you turn from a boy into a man, the day on which you finally clear college/university and enter the practical and working stage of your life. It is an extremely memorable occasion and should be celebrated with as many people as possible. The graduation ceremony marks the end of school/college/university life, and initiates a new chapter in a student’s life. As the graduation ceremony is such a memorable event, it is important to look as good as possible. The usual dress code of a graduation ceremony is the traditional gown, the hat and the tassel.

The graduation gown is an extremely important part of any graduating student’s attire, and no matter whichever graduation ceremony you attend, gowns are always a must. There are many shops as well as online stores that offer graduation gown for sale on highly reasonable and cheap prices, and they are extremely convenient to purchase. The other option that students have to get is to check whether their university offers graduation gowns for sale, as there are a few institutions that give out graduation gowns themselves, whereas some universities also have their own dedicated shops within the premises where you can purchase them. If not, you can most conveniently purchase a graduation gown from outside the university from the various amounts of shops and stores that offer them. They come in various sizes, so you can easily choose the one that fits you best.

The tassel is another very important part of your graduation outfit. Many universities require tassels for graduation as they are assigned to the students in compliance with the various degrees that are offered. Each degree has its distinct colored tassel, which is worn by a student qualifying for it. Students graduating from universities can also use their high school tassels as their tassels for graduation in their university graduating ceremony as it saves unnecessary expenses. The high school tassel adds a unique touch to your attire. However, students must pay great attention while choosing a tassel and make sure that it matches with the color assigned to their degree. The graduation ceremony is the most important day in any student’s life, and it is imperative that they dress up in the best possible manner, with a gown that is clean and tidy, and well ironed. It is a day on which you would look back all your life, so make sure that you take no regrets with as you walk up the stage to collect your degree.

More News from the PPA

March 10th, 2010

Speaking of legalized online poker , The Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group with more than one million members nationwide and over 25,000 members in Massachusetts, will testify this week before the Massachusetts State Legislature’s Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies as the committee considers H4069, which would classify poker as a game of skill in the state of Massachusetts. “There is a vast, and growing, body of academic research proving that poker is game in which who wins and who loses is predominantly determined by skill, not chance,” said Randy Castonguay, Massachusetts state director of the PPA. “I am extremely proud that Massachusetts is on its way to codifying this fact into law and preserving our citizens’ rights to play the game they love.” In most jurisdictions in the United States, and in Massachusetts, the definition of gambling depends on whether or not a game’s results are predominantly due to skill or chance. Given the law’s reliance on the skill versus chance classification, legislation like H4069 is critical to ensuring that every American has the freedom to play poker, either with friends around the kitchen table or online at the computer table. Testifying on behalf of the PPA will be Patrick Fleming, director of PPA’s Litigation Support Network, and Andrew Woods of the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society (GPSTS) at Harvard. At the hearing, PPA will also be submitting a white paper describing the role that skill plays in determining the outcome of a game of poker, and offers an overview of the scientific studies that address that question. The bill, introduced by Representative Brian Wallace, is the result of a robust grassroots effort by PPA members in Massachusetts. While PPA is uncertain of passage of this bill as stand alone legislation, the bill could be included in a larger casinos bill that the Massachusetts legislature plans to consider this summer.
